Depuis quelques années, the moissanite est devenue très populaire comme alternative au diamond : the moissanite ressemble au diamond, mais coûte beaucoup moins cher. Composée of silice and of carbone (C), the moissanite est aujourd’hui reproduite en laboratoire. Pourquoi reproduite ? Cette pierre a été initialement découverte en 1893 dans the météorite of Canyon Diablo, tombée il y a environ 50 000 ans en Arizona, aux États-Unis, à l’origine du Meteor Crater.
the moissanite a en moyenne plus d’éclat que the diamond grâce à son indice of réfraction of 2,65 à 2,69, contre 2,417 à 2,419 pour the diamond. Cela signifie que the moissanite reflète davantage the lumière que the diamond, à condition of comparer deux pierres similaires pour the couleur, the coupe and the taille.
Cette éclatante pierre a une dureté of 9,25 on l’échelle of Mohs. Elle se classe juste après the diamond en termes of dureté, ce qui signifie que vous pouvez être certain que votre bijou durera.
