Not familiar with moissanite?
Over the past few years, moissanite has become very popular as an alternative to diamond; moissanite looks like diamond, but costs much less. Composed of silica and carbon (C), man reproduces moissanite in the laboratory. Why reproduce? This stone was originally discovered in 1893 in the Canyon Diablo meteorite, which fell about 50,000 years ago in Arizona, United States, and caused the Meteor Crater .
Moissanite averages more sparkle than diamond thanks to its refractive index of 2.65 to 2.69, compared to 2.417 to 2.419 for the diamond. This means that moissanite reflects more light than diamonds, provided you compare two similar stones for color, cut and size.
This brilliant stone has a hardness of 9.25 on the Mohs scale . It is second only to diamond in terms of hardness, which means you can be sure your jewelry will last.
